Nina Pulli ja Annika Himanen vetivät tänään HEPekon tilaaman sukkapallokurssin. Diisulle on se oikea palkka ollut hakusessa koko ajan minkä olemme treenailleet, ja toivon että se löytyisi sukkapallosta. Kyseessähän ei oikeastaan ole palkkausmetodi, vaan kokonainen koulutusmenetelmä.
Aamulla menin hakemaan Diisua Mikkosilta mukaani kurssille. Diisuli hääräsi omiaan Mikkosten pihassa, joten minä asetuin seisomaan pihaan jo odotin mitä tapahtuu, kun se huomaa minut. Diesel tuli vauhdilla katsomaan kuka tyyppi siihen pihatielle oikein on pölähtänyt, haisteli housujani, tunnisti, hyppäsi kömpelösti korkealle ilmaan, ja alkoi sitten kauheasti hakea perusasentoa vasemmalla puolellani, pysymättä nahoissaan. Minä en siis sanonut enkä tehnyt mitään, seisoin vain ja odotin mitä tapahtuu.
Ihan selvästi sille oli jäänyt mieleen, että parin viikon ajan ennen Diisun pitkäksi venähtänyttä vierailua Mikkosten luona, treenasimme päivittäin perusasentoa koska se oli alkanut muuttua vinoksi... :-D
Ensimmäinen harjoitus sujui melko heikosti, Diisua kiinnosti kovasti hajut ja pissailu. Ei ehkä paras lähtökohta mennä kurssille kun ei ole nähnyt koiraansa liki kolmeen viikkoon, ja lisäksi koira odottelee autossa samassa kopissa missä juoksuinen narttu on matkustellut kolmen viikon ajan. Onneksi toinen ja kolmas kerta jo sujuivat paremmin.
Today I took part in a Hunting Drive Method training day at our SAR dog club with Diesel. The problem has been finding the best reward for Diesel in search work and I am hoping that this method will be a success.
Diesel is still staying by family Mikkonen so I went to get him first in the morning. Diesel was sniffing around in the yard and did no notice me come. So I just stood there and waited to see what will happen. He noticed me, ran to me and started sniffing my pants. Then he realized it was me (I still didn't do or say anything), jumped clumsily high in the air, and then he started doing basic position on my left side in repetition, soooo excited! :-D
He still remembered that for two weeks before moving over to the Mikkonens, we trained basic position every day...
Diesel did three training sessions with the sockaball. At first he was not so interested in it, he'd rather pee and sniff. It certainly felt like not the best idea to go to a course with your dog when you haven't seen him for about three weeks! And to mess his head properly; he spent the waiting periods in my car in the crate in which Gryka (who is in heat) has been travelling for three weeks...
But luckily the following training sessions were better. I really really hope this method will prove to be the solution for Diesel.
