Dieselin kolmas harjoituskerta etsintää - oltiin Helsingin harjoitusalueella taas. Vaikea uskoa, että Diesel oli treeneissä vasta kolmatta kertaa! Ensin kävimme yhdessä Dieselin ja Miklosin kanssa kiipeilemässä kasoilla ja erilaisissa portaissa ja koirat sai juosta tunneleissa ja putkissa.

Laitettiin sille viisi maalimiestä, kaikki valmiiksi, niin, että se ei nähnyt kun ukot meni paikoilleen. Intoa oli runsain mitoin kun lähdimme autoilta aluetta kohti! Kova kiire oli kundilla!

Kun päästin Dieselin irti, niin se lähti juoksemaan suoraan eteenpäin, ja sain sivutuulessa hajun ekasta ukosta. Heti se alkoi paikallistaa hajun lähdettä, mikä oli sille aika vaikeaa ja työlästä, mutta ei se kertaakaan antanut periksi tai tullut minult apuja hakemaan.
Ja Diesel on totisesti aito PON, nimittäin se kiipesi tarkasti noin puolen metrin päästä kasan päällä istuvasta maalimiehestä ohitse! Sitten se teki uukkarin ja tuli toista reittiä suoraan ukolle, löytäen sen nyt. ;-D

Oli kiva huomata Dieselin liikkumisen edenneen: nyt se jo hypähtelee hieman ja kiipeileekin paremmin. Se myös kuuntelee minua (vielä?) hyvin. Ekan maalimeihen jälkeen se meni ja oikein antaumuksella haisteli yhtä kohtaa ja alkoi merkata siihen, ja silloin oli pakko antaa sille huutia.

Dieselille ammuttiin kerran, se selvästi pelästyi laukausta (häntä heilahti alas) mutta jatkoi samaa vauhtia samaan suuntaan mihin oli menossakin.

Toinen mm oli kahden tunnelin päässä huoneessa maan alla. Diesel ei saanut mitään hajua toisen tunnelin päästä, josta puhalsi sisälle putkeen, ja vain hyvin heikon hajun tunnelin toisesta päästä. Kun kannustin niin se meni putkeen sisälle ja sitten ihan reippaasti häntä ylhäällä perille asti.

Kolmas mm oli vaikeakulkuisen kasan päällä, tosi hyvin keksitty paikka! :-D Dieselillä kesti kauan paikallistaa hajun lähde, ja sen jälkeen päästä sinne kasan päälle. Vaikutti myös siltä, että sillä oli tien toisella puolella myös haju maalimiehestä nro 4 samaan aikaan. Mutta ihan ilman apuja ja ylimääräisiä kannustuksia se sinne ukolle lopulta meni. Pitää vaan antaa aikaa!

Mm nro 4 oli helppo homme, ja se oli hyvä juttu koska kolmas oli Dieselille niin vaikea. Mutta Diesel ei syönyt koko palkkaa täällä, eli ensi kerralla erilaisia palkkoja peliin.

Mm nro 5 oli talon yläkerrassa ja sinne piti mennä niitä inhottavia portaita pitkin - ja hyvinhän se sujui kun vertaa ekaan kertaa! Diesel ei vaan sitten ylhäällä huomannut, että reuna tuli vastaan ja kyllä säikäytti meidät kun tassut kävi jo reunan ulkopuolella! Huh! Taas olisi voinut sattua pahasti!

Mutta on se vaan ihan jääkarhun näköinen kun se lyllertää siellä ylhäällä

Today Diesel trained search for the 3rd time - it is hard to believe it was only his third time! At first I took Miklos together with Diesel on the rubble area just to run around, climb on rubble and walk the stairs, run into tunnels etc. Miklos showed good example for Diesel with his fearless behaviour.

This time he did not see the victims go and hide. The victims were placed on the rubble area and only then Diesel was brought to the area.
On the video you can see how excited he is! Clearly he already knows his job is to find the people, and it is fun! He is pulling on the leash and cannot wait to get started! I allow him to behave like this, because I think that in this point it is very important to not to suffocate his excitement.

When I switched him off leash, he took off like a rocket! The video shows how he first runs away in excitement, and then catches a scent in the wind from the left and starts to locate it. Good dog!
And he IS a true PON, as he first passes by the victim (sitting on rubble fully visible) by some 50 cm, and only after another round finds her! ;-D That is using only nose, not eyes.

After finding the first victim, Diesel continues running around and started sniffing one spot and lifted his leg. I do not allow peeing (marking) while working so he got to learn that. ;-)

One gunshot was shot during Diesel's training session, he was frightened by it (his tail went down for some seconds) but continued running in the same direction. I hope it is only a question of inexperience.

Second victim was in a small room under ground. Two tunnels lead there. There was no scent in the opening of one tunnel, and very mild scent in the opening of the other one. With little encouragement Diesel went into the tunnel and was happy to alone all the way, with tail up. :-)

Third victim had climbed up on a rubble pile, and it was rather difficult for Diesel to firstly recognize where the scent was coming from, and secondly to find a way up. It takes time for him to just forget his clumsyness and just climb up, but we have all the time it takes. So we just waited, and without any help, he did it by himself in the end. It also seemed that he was also getting the smell from victim no. 4 at the same time and this confused him.

Victim no. 4 was an easy find for Diesel, which was good as no. 3 was so difficult. But Diesel did not eat all the reward by no. 4. Need to get better reward next time!

In the end we had 5th victim up in the building and Diesel had to climb the unpleasant stairs. Compared to the first time he did so well! And his tail is wagging the whole time he is climbing! And he looks so much like a polar bear!
But up there, he didn't notice he came to the edge before he was just about to step on emptyness! Pheew, that was a close call!
