Saimme mahdollisuuden treenailla rakennusetsintää Salon suunnalla tyhjillään olevassa sairaalassa, jossa oli vielä - luksusta! - lämmintä sisällä. Kiitoksia kaikille asianosaisille, oli kivaa! Tällä kertaa Diisu oli alusta asti määrätietoisesti hommissa ja tiesi mitä siellä tehdään.

Paitsi että Diisun eka mörkö tuli vastaan: kun siirryimme rappukäytävässä kohti ylemmän kerroksen käytävää, Diisu mennä vipelsi edellä sinne yläkertaan, kulman taakse - ja tuli sitten kysymysmerkin näköisenä takaisin. Sanoin että menee vaan, ja se meni - ja sitten alkoi kuulua epäilyttävää hälytyshaukkua. Siellä yläkerran tasanteella, käytävän päässä seisoi mies, täysissä ulkovaatteissa, lumilapio toisessa ja lumikola toisessa kädessä, jähmettyneenä liikkumattomaksi ja mitään ei sanonut. Ilmeisesti olivat Diisun kanssa yllättäen törmänneet toisiinsa ja kumpikin hieman säikähtäneet. Diisu sitten rohkaistui ja matalana hiipi miehen ohitse käytävällä, ja mies rohkaistui ja poistui paikalta rappukäytävään. :-D

Toisella kierroksella otin Dieselin kanssa toisen kerroksen käytävän pilkkosen pimeänä ja tyhjänä, kuljettiin läpi vaan, sitten mentiin alemman kerroksen käytävään joka sekin oli pimeänä, ja käytävän toisessa päässä avomaalimies. Ei jännittänyt Diisua pimeys vaan reippaasti meni.

9 tunnin reissu oli muuten tämä treenipäivä, matkoineen kaikkineen.

Today we had a training session in an abandoned hospital building in Salo. It was nice to be able to train in a warm and dry place! Diesel knew right away why we were there and worked very nicely.

At one point though he got scared - we were in the stairs on the way to the second floor and Diesel was going well before me. Suddenly he came back to me, looking odd - I told him to go back to work. He did go back up to the second floor but started barking an "alarm bark" there. There was something scary. Indeed there was something! In the end of the corridor there was a man standing in full winter costume (although it was warm inside) with a big snow shovel in one hand and a big snow pusher in the other hand, totally frozen and quiet. I guess they had ran into each other with Diesel and both gotten a little scared!

Diesel managed to crawl past the man and the man left and went away. We continued working and Diesel forgot about the odd man quickly.

The second time around I did a quick training in the dark for Diesel. He just had to move across the two long totally dark corridors to find an easy (unhidden) victim in the end of the latter corridor. He worked well in the darkness, no problems there.

It was a long day, altogether 9 hours travelling.

Vessan lattiassa on reikä, josta tulee vähän hajua alemmasta kerroksesta. Vaikea, mielenkiintoinen piiloratkaisu!
There is a small crack on the floor so that the dog can smell and indicate the person downstairs!

Diisusta on tullut sopsuhtaisempi - ei ole enää niin valtava jääkarhupeppu.
Diesel looks more balanced nowadays - no longer that huge polar bear butt!

I got a simply marvelous "flower bouquet" from a friend as a thanks for the past year. The bouquet was made of sweets for both me and my dogs. :-D Thank You Virve!

This is the picture in our own vest.  There is a PON, a mixed breed dog called Jeppe, a retriever and a lagotto romagnolo.
